Binturong - Bearcat

In some areas of this beast called Binturong, Binturung, Menturung or Menturun . In English, this animal is called Binturong , Malay Civet Cat , the Asian Bearcat , the Palawan Bearcat , or briefly Bearcat . Called Bearcat probably due to thick black hairy carnivore is looking like a bear that long-tailed, and a thick mustache and long like a cat.While in China this beast called the Xiong-Li.
Binturung ( Arctictis binturong ) spread from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia (western Java, Kalimantan, Sumatra), Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines (Palawan Province), Thailand, and Vietnam . In Indonesia these animals, including animals that are protected.
Characteristics and Behavior Binturong. Binturung have a large body and long tail and large. Binturong body length between 60-95 cm, while the tail length between 50-90 cm. Weighing animals this kind of weasel around 6-14 kg, and even can reach 20 kg.
Binturong long-haired and rough-colored entirely black or brownish, with a sprinkling of whitish gray or reddish. At each end of the ear are the elongated tuft of hair. Binturung bushy tail and long hair, especially at the near base, so impressed fat. The tail can be used to hold the limb as a 'fifth foot'. A unique, Binturung females have a pseudo-penis aka fake penis, a rare characteristic organ found in other creatures.
Binturung as generally ferrets, the animal isnocturnal active at night. Although more often located in trees ( arboreal ) Binturong also fell to the ground ( terrestrial ). Sometimes there is also awake and active during the day.
As a nation carnivores, Binturung ( Arctictis binturong ) eat eggs, small animals like birdsand rodents. However Binturung also eat fruits and leaves.
Binturung very good at climbing and jumping from branch to branch, a type of mongoose animal is usually moving without haste on a tree. Its tail is used for balance, or sometimes held when being grabbed food at the end rerantingan. Hoofed claws sharp and curved, making it possible to grip firmly pepagan. Hind legs can be rotated backward to hold the trunk, so binturung can drop quickly with the head first.
As is often the Weasel, removing such Binturung odor from glands beneath the base of the tail. The smell is used to mark territory. Females gave birth to 2-6 children, after pregnancy for approximately 91 days.
Conservation Binturung. Binturong Population ( Arctictis binturong ) tend to decrease. By IUCN Redlist animals are included in the conservation status of Vulnerable(VU: Vulnerable) . It is also listed in CITES Appendix III. These animals by the government of Indonesia, including one of the protected animals.
Reduced population Binturong hunting and destruction caused by forest as a result of deforestation and forest fires. Binturung hunted for their thick hairy skin, and to use body parts as ingredients of traditional medicine.
Today started a lot of people who maintain Binturong as pets like cats and dogs. This animal is cute as a pet but I am sure will be more 'funny' if this five-legged weasel extinct in the wild.
